Exercise Rehabilitation
Exercise Rehabilitation at Greater Chicago Specialty Physicians (GCSP) is different. It is just one part of our ADVANCED INTEGRATIVE CHIROPRACTIC CARE program. In addition to exercise rehabilitation, our chiropractic physicians also use spinal manipulations, manual therapy, nutrition counseling and ergonomic counseling in order to help you get pain free, get moving and get well again.

HOW DOES EXERCISE REHABILITATION WORK?
Exercise rehabilitation corrects pain and improves health by increasing strength, mobility, flexibility, stability and endurance. It can provide both short- and long-term benefits. In most cases of pain and injury, some muscles become short, contracted and overworked in order to compensate for other muscles which may have become weak over time or following injury. Exercise rehabilitation helps provide stretching techniques for the short, contracted muscles and strengthening techniques for the weak muscles.
In order for exercise rehabilitation to lead to successful outcomes it is important to first see a specialist who is trained to be able to recognize the overworked muscles versus the weak muscles. Our chiropractors do just that!
At Greater Chicago Specialty Physicians, Dr. Desai is Functional Movement Systems (FMS) certified. She specializes in studying movement patterns and performing muscle strength and flexibility tests in order to correctly diagnose biomechanical imbalances in order to deliver fast and efficient treatment results.
WHY ARE OUR CHIROPRACTORS UNIQUELY QUALIFIED TO PROVIDE EXERCISE REHABILITATION?
Our Chiropractic exercise rehabilitation plans include a unique combination of strengthening, passive stretching, active stretching, yoga, core conditioning, resistance training, neuromuscular re-education, core movement pattern re-conditioning and functional movement exercises. The end goal of our exercise rehabilitation plan is to enable pain free ambulation, elongate contracted muscles/tendons/fascia, reduce, mobilize joints, improve circulation, improve respiratory capacity, improve coordination, improve balance and improve muscle strength.
Additionally, Dr. Desai is Functional Movement Systems certified. She is trained to diagnose biomechanical issues that could be the root cause of pain and address those biomechanical discrepancies both locally (at the site of pain) and globally to address postural and ergonomic issues that could be contributing to the pain.
